The Open Source Doll Cafe in Tokyo is a fetish cafe that has been opened in Tokyo’s Roppongi District in 2015 by a group of likeminded individuals, who wanted to wear Open Source Doll hard shells as much as possible. It turned into a business idea when one of them came across a different fetish cafe on Roppongi.
All dolls employed by the Open Source Doll Cafe, are wearing hard shells modelled after α of the original Open Source Dolls, though with a lower number of attachment points compared to the original design. They ensure to be as identical as possible, so that none of the customers are able to tell them apart.
As they retain the oral, vaginal and anal sheathes, with their covers, they do have several backrooms and a few capsule style rooms, where a customer can make use of a doll sexually, though it is not advertised. This makes the cafe very lucrative to a certain clientele.
At the same time, the Cafe had an openly displayed workspace, where dolls can be seen designing and creating new doll suits, either for new employees or for people who want to have their own suits. They clearly note that any doll they design, will go into the open source collection of Open Source Doll hard shells.
